O orangotango (cujo nome vem de duas palavras da língua malaia, que juntas significam "pessoa da floresta") é um gênero de exclusivamente três espécies asiáticas de hominídeos. Nativos da Indonésia e da Malásia, os orangotangos são encontrados somente nas florestas tropicais de Bornéu e da Sumatra.
